The Hong Kong Island, constituting the area of land first colonized by British settlements still today host most government and legislative offices as well as the main financial district. Together with the southern tip of Kowloon this is where you will find most museums, galleries and entertainment districts. Plenty of shopping venues can be found here with the area of Causeway Bay on the Hong Kong Island and Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon drawing the greatest crowds.
Beyond the vibrant Victoria harbor area in all directions man-made construction thin out offering greenery and wilderness in abundance. Great housing estates can be found in the areas known as the New Territories, and they are worth visiting for anyone who wants to get a sense of the everyday life of the Hong-Kongnese. There are great areas of National Forest Parks throughout the territories with one of the most famous one situated on the Sai Kung Peninsula.
The archipelago of Hong Kong consist of over hundreds of islands most which are uninhabited. Lantau Island being the largest of the Outlying Islands offer great accommodation, beaches and outdoor lifestyle living. Destinations such as Lamma, Cheng Chau and Peng Chau are easily accessed by boat and offer a great day out for both locals and tourists.
